Westcity Group of companies (a Palebeck Telecomms customer since 1993) is the holding company for a number of property and restaurant-based companies.
Based in a Georgian office block near Regents Park, Central London, the company’s head office has recently upgraded from a Panasonic A Series to the S-ICX Telephone System.
“We needed something that was going to improve efficiency” explained Laurence Tucker, head of IT at Westcity. “We do not have a receptionist and we found that everyone in the company was taking messages for everyone else. Even worse those messages were then being transmitted by e-mail thus duplicating already wasted effort. We decided that the best way to get round this problem was to install a system that had both voice mail and direct dialling facilities.
One of the key selling points of the Panasonic system for us was price advantage and that we could use our existing handsets. This saved a huge expense up front. The S-ICX gives us dedicated lines and ISDN which we didn’t have before. Our staff also particularly liked the message transfer facility.
Finally, a lot of our work is divided into divisions and the SICX, by allowing us to use additional network carriers enables us to apportion call charges by extension which makes things much easier for accounting purposes.”
